Worship

Schedule

On Sundays, you can join us in-person for worship at 9:30 a.m. in the Sanctuary.  You can also join us virtually in real time by way of Zoom.  If you need to worship with us at some other time more convenient for you, go to  our YouTube channel and choose the worship service you want to watch.

On the first Saturdays of the month Sept. through May and on the first and third Saturdays June through August, you can join us in-person for worship at 5:00 p.m. in Fritze Hall.  This worship service, without music, is a bit briefer than the Sunday morning service.

Communion

We remember that Jesus welcomed all kinds of people to join him for meals.   We remember that his friends recognized him after his death and resurrection when they thanked God for bread and shared it with one another.  Just as Jesus' table was open, our table is open too.  Anyone who wishes to be part of God's family is welcome to join us in communion.

Please come forward if you wish to partake during the Lord’s Supper or if you wish to receive a blessing. As you exit your pew, take a cup from the usher. Come forward to receive the bread and then step to either side to receive the wine.   Please alert the person serving the bread if you need a gluten free option.

Children

We welcome the sounds, energy, and questions of children in worship and in all our life together.   For worship, coloring packets are available at the front door of  the sanctuary and at the Fritze Hall entrance.  If you or your child needs a break from being inside the sanctuary during worship, please feel free to use the quiet books and toys located in the narthex. A changing table is located in the restroom by the Fritze Hall Kitchen.

Altar Guild

In addition to making sure we are ready to share together in Holy Communion each week, members of our Altar Guild creatively prepare our worship spaces for special services like Harvest Home, Christmas, Holy Week, Easter, and Pentecost.   To participate, get in touch with our Altar Guild leader, Peggy Dougherty through the church office, 610-264-3762.

Choir

Led by Mike Fister, our choir leads congregational singing and offers anthems for Sunday morning worship services, September through May and on the first Sundays of the month June through August.  Rehearsals are on Sunday mornings at 8:15 a.m.

The choir also sings for special Holy Week and Christmas Services.

Join our musicians as they find meaning and joy singing music in a variety of styles and in unison or in parts.

Assisting Ministers and Cantors

Members of our church serve as Assisting Ministers, reading scripture, leading intercessions, and helping to serve communion.  Our members also serve as Cantors, leading the congregation in reading of our psalm for the day and helping to sing the Communion hymn.  If you would like to help lead worship in either of these ways, contact our Worship Planning Chairperson, Lana Synder, through the church office, 610-264-3746.

Ash Wednesday

We offer Ash Wednesday services at 12:00 p.m. and at 7:00 p.m.  Come and remember with us our mortality, that we are made of the earth and to earth we shall return.  Come and begin the Lenten season with a sense of humility and longing for God's guidance throughout our short human lives.

Holden Evening Prayer and Soup Suppers

On the Wednesday evenings during Lent, we have a soup supper in Fritze Hall at 6:00 p.m. and then go into the Sanctuary for Holden Evening Prayer at 7:00 p.m. where our prayers, "rise up like incense."  The beautiful music for this service, written by Marty Haugen, provides a reflective space for us to hear a meditation and sink more deeply into God's presence.

Our Holden Evening Prayer services can also be found on our YouTube Channel.

Holy Week and Easter Services

Throughout the week, we remember how Jesus' work for the coming Kingdom of God and his provocative actions in Jerusalem eventually led to his rejection, his arrest, trial, and crucifixion.  We seek to recognize the ways we also reject him. We find hope in God's vindication of Jesus at Easter and his continued presence with us.
